The mission of the Association of Independent Riders is to preserve, promote and
protect motorcyclists rights and freedoms.
The AIR founders met for the first time in 1980 to discuss the formation
of a motorcycle riders group. AIR became an official group July 9th, 1981. It wasn't until
a year later that the original members decided on the name.
Though membership totals have varied over the years, there have been on average 15 members that
have stood the test of time. Today AIR members are activists for biker
rights and safety, but also like to host rides and sponsor
community biker events. AIR members host a biker dance each
year in Bellechester, MN, rain or shine, on the Saturday night of
Mother's day weekend. Also, AIR sponsors a fun run
on the Saturday of Father's day weekend. Yearly or biennially AIR sponsors a night
called the "Political Forum" to meet our local polititions and ask
them questions about their viewpoint on many issues concerning
biker rights and safety.
The Association of Independent Riders are a Motorcycle Rights Organization (MRO)
People often ask, how can an "Association" have independent riders in it?
The reason is that each of AIR's members are recreational riders
who gather for community and brotherhood.
AIR is not considered a "motorcycle club" or affiliated with
any motorcycle club as we do not wear any colors.
Most importantly, Every AIR(MRO) member is a member of other motorcycle rights organizations
such as: St. Croix Valley Riders (SCVR); "AIR" are all current members),
The Motorcycle Rider Foundation (MRF); "AIR" are all current members,
ABATE and Minnesota Dail-A-Ride.
Interested members must meet and ride with the club before
they are voted on for possible membership into AIR. Contact: cyclefreak66@yahoo.com
